My Graduate Journey: Work, Jobs, Careers?

Graduation season has just passed, and in my opinion there are three types of graduates out there right now...
  1. They studied a degree which allows them to go straight into their desired field of study
  2. Their degree will take them far, they just need to find the inlet
  3. Their degree will not help them get a job and they are wondering around what to do with their lives.
Now me, I'm in that third group. Having studied performing arts at university that doesn't really open a lot of doors for me. For someone who is maybe interested in becoming s teacher or actually going into the arts industry, that's great! But I finished my degree thinking 'What next'?

Okay, so in my eyes, I'm skilled in three things... One, Performing arts. Two, Call centre experience. Three, Customer service.

But I genuinely don't want to go into any of those roles. I want to influence the public and hopefully
make a difference in the world.

I want a career, not just a job.

So I'm going to make an action plan, and I hope it inspires some of you to do the same.

I want to write in my blog regularly and actually make a career out of it. I'm so intrigued in making YouTube videos but I don't know where to start. Sadly I don't have any experience or qualifications in journalism or media, but it seems that if you have a passion in that field, then you at least have a shot of getting there.

Unfortunately as a graduate, if you don't have your career path laid out in front f you, you kind of have to make ends meet with a 'regular' job (not that there's anything wrong with a regular job). I'm currently in a 'regular' job, which is only temporary. That is what inspired me to write this post, because right now I have two ultimatums...

Do I...
Go for a 'regular' job and try to figure out my life while I'm doing that?
or...
Do I go all guns blazing and try to go for a job in my desired field?

I know some of you will be feeling exactly the same as me at this moment in time. Do you have any advice to give? What are you doing to follow your dreams?

Seeya later,

Chels xx
