Hello all!! You're probably already aware but (drumroll please...) I've graduated! I have to admit, it was an amazing day, so much better than I thought it was going to be! Here I'm going to share my experience with you and answer a few questions at the end :) Enjoy x
It's pretty common knowledge that you have to wear academic dress for graduation ceremonies, and a lot of the time they're pretty shocking. I guess I struck lucky haha! I had to wear a long black cloak-like-thing, which was really stiff! A sash, or scarf, whatever they wanted to call it, which funnily enough had the colours of the union jack (proud brit moment), and the mortar board, which I had to secure with hair grips. I was sure that thing was gonna fall off of my head.
Underneath those not-so-hideous-but-still-uncomfortable robes, I wore a beautiful navy dress, which matched my glasses. Hooray for accidental matching! The dress was floor length and was ruched at the bodice (It made my boobs seem bigger to me so that's always a plus I guess haha). The petticoat was of a nylon material with the skirt made of a sort of mesh material which was stunning.
Now... I never used to be a girl for embellishment, especially sequins and stuff, but oh were they perfect on this dress! They obviously weren't swarovski crystals or anything, (I'm not rich or anything... Would be nice though haha). So I got the dress for just under £60 (Student discount.. Wahoo!) from Debenhams, which fair enough is a tad expensive, but it was the dress! You girls'll know what I mean!
So I've explained just how much I love that dress, but the love I have for these shoes, it just doesn't compare (by the way, how cool does that photo look! Pretty proud if I do say so myself). I got them from New Look for about £21, once again, NUS cards have that impact on my shopping haha!
Everyone has questions about Graduation, I know I did! Here are some common questions for you!
Are the graduation robes comfortable?
Is it worth the amount of money and effort?
Summarised into one word... YES! All in all, my graduation cost £100+, I understand it's quite a lot of money, but it's so worth it. Celebrating three of the freest, more carefree, independent years of your life with your family and friends, all being dressed up and looking gorgeous (or suave) as you want! I would definitely recommend going to your graduation (providing you want to that is) because it's truly an experience like no other. Upsetting though when you have to say goodbye to your friends, not knowing when you'll be able to see them again...
In a nutshell, my graduation was amazing! University was a great experience, I feel I did the wrong course, but I learned so much about life and myself that it was a valuable experience. I've really learned to take life in its stride and enjoy what you can!
Leave me a comment below if you've graduated, are going to graduate, or even if you're going into your final year of university and looking forward to graduation! I'd love to hear your experiences!

Are the graduation robes comfortable?
NO. NO THEY ARE NOT. At least mine weren't... They were stiff and made me really warm and they fall about all over the place. It was really distracting while I was focusing on not listening to the "you've come so far at this university", "we're now a family", "be proud of yourself", I think that's about what I caught haha! I'm joking, it was nice to reminisce the three years while that scarf-sash-thing was falling about everywhere!
Did you fall on stage?
I actually managed to stay on my feet throughout, which is surprising because with the combination of a floor-length dress, heels, stairs and clumsiness I was sure something was going to go wrong! But sure enough, I made my way across the stage, shook some hands of people (I still have no idea who they were haha!) walked down three steps, got a white envelope and walked back to my seat. Yep. All that worrying. For FIVE SECONDS on stage. Thankfully, no-one fell and the day went really smoothly.
Okay, so even though I didn't fall over on stage... I did almost fall up what seemed like scaffolding to have the year photo done... Who organises a group photo on scaffolding?! Anyway, that was uncomfortable and too close for my liking, but all good none the less!
